Twas the day before Xmas….

At least here in Australia it is. It’s just the two of us for Xmas day, but I’m still making a nice meal. I’ve made the icecream and make the cheesy pototoes, so it’s just the roast pork and the green vegetables to cook tomorrow.

Do spare a thought for those among us who are spending this time of year for the first time without a loved one who’s passed away, those of us in wartorn or disaster-ridden areas, those of us who are sick, alone, or depressed.

And especially give a thought to the millions of people for whom a slap-up Xmas meal is an unimaginable luxury, and when just having a full belly at all is a futile dream.

I hope 2012 brings peace to this troubled world, but it’s looking like it’s going to be a rough ride for nearly everyone. So let’s try to be patient, kind, and generous, to get through it.

Have a good break, people. You’re going to need the energy.

New Novella – Every Move You Make

In the sequel to Unnatural Selection, Nick and Anton have settled into a comfortable arrangement with Nick dropping over on his free days for sex and company. This suits Nick just fine – even though he knows Anton wants more.  Attending a glamorous event pushes them into the public eye as a couple, leading to unmerciful teasing from Nick’s friends. He doesn’t mind too much until the attention turns deadly, and he must discover who’s harrasing his friends and lover, before somebody ends up dead.

My thanks to Kiri Moth for cover advice, Mari Evers for Swedish advice and my husband for typo finding.

No one bar my husband has read this and told me what they think, so if it reeks, you’ll be the first to know :)

Also, I wish to hear no whining about the lack of sex scenes. It didn’t need sex scenes, I didn’t want to write them, and no one’s going to make me. So there ;)

Ask and you shall receive

I have three books in mind to offer 50% or greater discounts for the 12 days of Christmas. (As an atheist, I hereby declare Christmas to be an areligious, pan-cultural winter/year end festival of excess, and shall therefore enjoy it to its full, pagan-rooted extent. So there ;) )

But if there’s a (self-published) book of mine you’ve been wanting to buy on the cheap, please let me know in the next week or so (in comments or by email) and I’ll see what the Santa Fairy can do for you.

Also – if you have been having trouble buying or affording any of my self-pubbed books this year, now’s your chance to email me and ask for what you want. I’m never slow to help out.

Merry holidays wotsits to come!

Just one more thing…

One fruitful, good thing to come out of the you know what mess is a greater awareness of the trans writers around us, their struggles, their contribution, and the too pervasive bigotry they face in what should be a safe space for them. On the 13th Transgender Day of Remembrance, it’s appropriate to note that this conversation is happening, and needs to happen. Continue reading

FYI

I’ve moved all the posts about AJ Llewellyn and James Austen off my front page because the subtitle of this blog is not “Authors who behave like idiots” I do, believe it or not, talk and prefer to talk about other subjects, including myself, as I am, naturally, my own favourite topic [/sarcasm].

However, nothing’s been deleted and if you really want to wallow in matters which have already been well aired – if not always discussed particularly well – you want this link.

Books you may like

I’ve posted two new items on Outlaw Reviews:

Which might be of interest to you – they were to me. I’ve also recently read and very much enjoyed two books by Feliz Farber, Desert Falcon and City Falcon. The combination of the unusual topic and the beautiful, beautiful writing held me spellbound, even if Mark Bowman in City Falcon is a bit of a prick (he has reasons – and the story is set in the early 90′s, which even more difficult times for gay men.) Hunter Deveraux is one of the most fascinating and lovely heroes I’ve read in ages, and if I wasn’t madly writing and working, I’d stop right now to write the reviews these books deserve. Don’t wait on me – check them out.

I won a copy of Frank Tuttle’s new book, All the Paths of Shadows, recently but to my immense embarrassment, I haven’t yet read it. I plan to do that over the weekend because any book by Frank is going to be a total delight. My only excuse is that I’m writing.

Writing!

Enjoying writing!

I’d actually forgotten what it was like to be so eager to write that I resented every other distraction.

As to what I’m writing, not telling. I refuse to jinx it. So no asking :)

Go read those fine books while you’re waiting ;)
